New Hope Community Services
Providing Shelters Of Hope Since 2004
New Hope Community Services (NHCS) is founded to serve a practical need in Singapore. It is a VWO that provides transitional shelters for poor and homeless Singaporeans.
Since its inception in 2004, thousands of homeless individuals and 900 families have gone through our shelters. NHCS currently serves up to 60 displaced families, and about 60 displaced individuals. We are also a Mentoring Agency for 600 low-income families with a total gross household income of less than $1700. These families are under the Home Ownership Plus Education Scheme.
Besides providing shelters for families and individuals in crisis, we engage them in structured training programmes to help them become relevant and to increase employability. With professional counselling, skills training and coaching, we seek to equip and empower our beneficiaries to break out of extreme poverty and to gain a stable and secure footing in life. With our new Life Skills Training & Retreat Centre, more families can be equipped with essential skills to meet life’s outcomes.
In 2017, New Hope Community Services was honored to be awarded Charity Transparency Award for the second year running, while also winning the Charity Governance Award for the medium-sized charity category – being the only winner in that category. These prestigious awards are conferred to Charities with exemplary transparency practices and have achieved the highest standards in governance.
